Hi, my name is Matt Morgan, CEO of Optimize Worldwide Search Engine Friendly Web Design. Today I’d like to talk about choosing keywords for the content you publish online. Many of my clients often tell me they want to rank at the top of Google, Bing, and Yahoo! for “X” keyword. Let’s say its “attorney”. Well, you are basically competing against the entire world. So, I often tell them to think key phrases, niche out into something that is a little more realistic like “motorcycle attorney”. That’s a little better, however, often times we really need to focus on a location as well.
I’ve developed a formula that works well for our clients and it’s pretty simple. LOCATION + KEY PHRASE. Basically, the content you are publishing online, whether it be blog articles, press releases, web page content, or even videos should absolutely include location plus keyphrase. These types of tags, you are going to want to have in your page titles, in your headings, in the body of your content, in the keywords. You know, basically distributed out through your content so that that entire article, web page, or video is targeting location plus key phrase. For example, if you are a motorcyle attorney in Redding, you are going to want to make sure that your content is optimized with key phrase “redding motorcylce attorney”. Why don’t you give it a try. Go out to Google and type in “redding motorcycle attorney” and see what we’ve done for one of our clients. It’s pretty impressive! It’s worked well for us and I hope it works well for you.
And that’s our tip for today. If you’d like to learn more about search engine optimization, web development optimization, we love teaching people how this stuff works.
